Street clean-up volunteers help whenever a planned clean-up event fits their schedule. Volunteers pick up trash, sweep debris from sidewalks and gutters, trim overgrown trees in the right-of-way, and sometimes haul away larger discarded objects from our neighborhood streets. Tools are provided as needed and when supplies are available. We aim to host neighborhood clean-up events before large neighborhood events and as often as every weekend once our volunteer base can withstand that goal.
Safety Team event volunteers help promote safe and enjoyable neighborhood events. Volunteers do not assume liability for the safety of others but work with the team to provide extra reminders and assistance in areas such as pedestrian safety around vehicular traffic, giving directions, answering basic event questions, assisting with lost/found items, etc. as needed at Coronado neighborhood events.
Do you want to be added to a list of volunteers available to help neighbors in need? From time to time we receive requests for help with things such as cleaning up a yard for a disabled neighbor facing blight complaints, fostering found dogs, scanning found dogs for microchips and following through with the process of finding the registered owners, helping someone move heavy furniture, passing out cold water to our homeless neighbors on a hot day, or distributing blankets and jackets on cold day, etc. The possibilities are endless and the need is often last minute. This would be an as-needed volunteer position.
With the rise in frequency of porch pirates, bike thefts, catalytic converter thefts, break-ins, etc. Where's Safety Team encourages neighbors to become more involved with the safety and security of their immediate areas. We have many opportunities for volunteers to get involved and would love to discuss with anyone how they can help. This could be any level of involvement from simple changes you can make at home to more involved actions to help your neighbors stay safe.
Where's Safety Team encourages all volunteers to attend a short class and become certified with the Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol program before engaging in any observe/report type activities.
We need grant writers who can seek out grants and apply on our behalf. This could be a one-time volunteer experience or ongoing.
Fundraising chairperson - We need someone with innovative ideas for funding our projects and events. Ideally, this person would also chair a committee that will implement and follow through on these ideas.
Everyone has their own unique talent or interest to bring to the team and we want to hear about yours! We invite you to complete our volunteer form so we can find the perfect fit for you!
